Stormccaller

Stormcaller.

Stormcaller is a quasi-mythical blade wielded by Sir Dentos Barracas of the Black Knights of Gilneas prior to his demise during the Invasion of Gilneas. Having been slated to take over when the commander of the Black Knights died, Sir Dentos was a remarkable young man, only twenty six when he met his demise, and having served in the order for ten years (having joined at the age of 16). Stormcaller, his blade, was made of a special material the dwarves of the Wildhammer Clan refer to as "storm metal" (in truth, it is enchanted thorium mixed with several other elements of nature to give it the properties it carries), a material used to craft dwarven Stormhammers. Stormcaller was unique in that the entire blade was made of storm metal, allowing it the power, when in heavy stormy areas, to control gales and lightning akin to that of a Stormhammer; albeit with more finesse. Due to the nature of Gilneas, Stormcaller would always be more powerful when at home.

Sir Dentos took over command of the Black Knights following the demise of Lord-Commander Jerome Cobbler, leading the remaining black knights to their last stand. According to surviving accounts, Sir Dentos led the knights and those he could rally from the Northern Headlands to the pinnacle of a plateau that sat against the Greymane Wall. Referred to as Gale's End by the survivors, Sir Dentos called upon a never ending gale by channeling the magics within Stormcaller to perpetually bombard the mountainside with heavy freezing rains; dying in the process. This successfully routed a large amount of the Forsaken, killing many, and left Stormcaller free from being commandeered by the Forsaken.

Scouts report that the plateau upon which the Black Knights met their end remains bombarded by never ending heavy ice rain; isolated specifically towards that region. The plateau as it is is now covered in snow and ice, something queer for the region that was normally temperate. The Blighted that remained from the region, be it survivors or prisoners, have been noted to flock to the area; as though they wished to remain in the area that was known as the Northern Headlands' last true stand. Reports state that the shade of Sir Dentos still haunts the area, accompanied by his sister Dame Reina Barracas, who was also said to have fallen there.

The sword was eventually claimed by the Blades of Greymane, who sought out the weapon to use against the Forsaken. Upon climbing Gale's End, they found that Sir Barracas still stood; though he had been made into an undead by the forces of the Forsaken. Unlike them, however, he refused to serve Sylvanas; rejecting them and coming back to the place of his death. Pledging his sword to the Blades if they could defeat him in combat, they were successful, and Stormcaller was gifted to Alverdo Blackmoore to wield. Sir Dentos had also revealed the survival of his sister, Reina, who had been trapped within ice due to the spellwork of Stormcaller. With her freedom and his sword in good hands, Sir Dentos departed and stated that he hoped fate would bring them together again some day.

Lord Blackmoore would eventually end his service with the Blades on good terms; returning Stormcaller as he knew the blade was of importance to the Gilnean people. It remained in the Ravendale vault for years, before the bidding of Faralani brought Siracco Karanes to claim the sword to be used for Gilneas once more, granted to him by writ from Duke Berenal Grayblade.
