Viscountess Gertrude Tyne was the cousin of Lord Taeric Grimwold III and the longstanding ruler of the region of Blackfallow. Having been married to one of her knights, Bruce Tyrison, Gertrude lived a happy life in her home with her husband, the two's blissful marriage only disrupted by Gertrude's issues with child baring. Several months before the destruction of Taenia, Gertrude was successfully impregnated by her husband, and the Tyne name looked secure. Unable to be happier, Gertrude's life seemed at its peak, a loving husband, a prosperous land and a child on the way.

The Kor'kagal arrived to shatter this all away. Sir Bruce was brutally slaughtered at the loss of the Southern Redirons and her lands were one of the first to be ravaged. Her people brutally murdered and her lands ravaged, Gertrude was taken captive where she was brutally savaged by the orcs and miscarried, before being killed herself. In her dying breaths, she drew in the fury and horror of her people, killing any survivors within the lands as she utterly annihilated what remained of it. What were once sprawling fields of harvest soured and sank into the ground, as water washed over and the trees withered and grew soggy. Transforming her lands into a marsh filled with dense fog, Gertrude and her people rose again. Their corpses surrounded in the ground they had twisted, they sufficed themselves in it, becoming the Marsh Wraiths.

Gertrude now remains within Blackfallow, eternally languishing the loss of her husband, her child, and her innocence to the orcs. Utterly insane, her people slaughter any who attempt to brave the marsh towards their lady's home, fiercely repelling any intruder as they were unable to in life.
