The Saltspyres are a group of small shield islands located within the Ashwake Gulf off the coast of Rignweald and The Fallow Crest. They were once the home of the Reefsworn clan; though the Gilnean Navy heavily bombarded their home isle (just referred to as the Saltspyre) until it collapsed. As a result, the Saltspyres became a haven for piracy until the invasion of the Burning Legion wiped most of them out. The only settlement is that of Seacliffe; a ramshackle little town created over the ruins of the former Reefsworn holdings. It is inhabited by both Gilnean and Galuyn alike; though there is a lack of formal leadership.
Location[]
While there are many islands, most of them are made up of the same features: rocky with only some greenery. Saltspyre isle still exists, though it is a tattered mess. The various rock formations that surrounded the island collapsed in on the isle itself; crushing the Wavewalker town that once laid there. What remains is a ramshackle disaster of broken apart ships, houses, and whatever else the sea squall hasn't yet claimed.
The Gilnean navy was once given leave to bombard the area as the Reefsworn were confused for pirates that plagued the Ashwake; thus eliminating the group almost entirely. Ironically, this led to actual piracy cropping up in the area in the aftermath, as the rocky nature of the reefs that surround the isles of the Saltspyres were notorious for carving up larger vessels. The area was occupied by the Burning Legion during their invasion; though following their defeat it was left open to occupation by the Duchy. It was later placed under command of the Ashen Armada for usage to create a naval base, though it became troubled due to the difficulty to move supplies into the region.
As a result of this, Seacliffe largely goes by a communal system of its inhabitants; a mixture of Gilnean and Galuyn people. These folk have largely come to Seacliffe seeking a quiet life, and as such are usually of little harm. Most of them, however, come from hard pasts, either as pirates or surviving Wavewalker raiders; as such those that take up arms against the village often find themselves with more than they bargained with.
