King Tristan Greymane I (223 F.A. - 311 F.A.) was a ruler of the Kingdom of Gilneas. Born to Gwen II and Bashel Thort, leader of the White Raven Privateers, he was crowned king at the age of 50 after his mother's death. His father died seven years after his birth and his mother married another man, Heinrich Cobalstant, two years later. From that second union came his half-brother, Teran.

During his reign, the Duchy of the Ashen Coast under the House of Cobalstant declared itself independent from the rest of the Kingdom of Gilneas, forming the Kingdom of the Ashen Coast. Tristan hastily gathered his men in order to put down the upstart and liberate the Ashen Coast, but the initial battles were disastrous for his men due to the choke point the Cobalstants held. For ten years he warred against the Ashen Coast, but it seemed like they would become a separate kingdom of their own until the head of the House of Gregor approached him with a proposition: They would disguise the Greymane men as soldiers of the House of Gregor returning from the front free to rampage across the land, so long as those under the protection of the House of Gregor were untouched.

Rather than sack or pillage the land, Tristan and his men entered Bannhurst, occupying the city and capturing King Beauforth Cobalstant in his own home. Bringing him to Gilneas City, he was tried for his crimes against the crown and was executed, his kingdom disbanded. Tristan allowed Beauforth's son to succeed him as the lord of the house, but dismissed their title as Dukes of the Ashen Coast and broke the Ashen Coast into the Marches of the Bite, the Reach and the Range. He granted the Cobalstants the title of Marcher Lord of the Bite to prevent any potential uprisings.

He fathered two children, his successor Gerald Greymane I in 250 F.A. and Clarisa Greymane in 260 F.A.
